Summer has barely started and I am already OVER it. I am so damn bored. This time last year, Christian and I were exploring small, old villages in Germany, and getting ready to head to Switzerland. This year, we are doing nothing.
Marty is currently on vacation and we are staying home. Today is his birthday and the most exciting thing we have done is head to the Farmer's Market.
In all fairness, we decided to do nothing this summer. After a summer of four of us being gone and then a vacation turned trip home to Ohio for my Grandma's funeral in December, when it was time to discuss plans for the summer, we were ready for some time at home. Now of course, I want to be anywhere but home. If you are over the age of 10, there is just nothing to do in Meridian. Nothing. Ok, they can go to the movie or head to The Park (a sort of Chuck E. Cheese for teenagers, with laser tag, put-put golf, etc.) but how many times can they do that without 1) breaking the bank and 2) they are bored with it.
We had planned to go camping for Marty's birthday, but with the weather reaching 100 degrees, I put the kibosh on that.
Ok, enough complaining. What we do have planned for the summer is - lots of swimming, visiting with friends, planning movie/dinner theme nights for the family and friends (Puerco Pibil and Once Upon A Time In Mexico, anyone?), watching/helping Christian succeed in his first semester of College (so far, so good!), helping Alex find a job, school with Alex and Ethan (Yes, I am mean. The "but it's summer" excuse doesn't work around here. If it is too hot to go outside, you may as well grab a school book), supporting Ethan and a friend as they start a business (making skateboards. They already have potential buyers), making more Youtube videos, doing another "How low can you go" challenge to see how much money we can save by the end of summer, doing another freezer clean out challenge (trust me, it needs it), walking my doggies, catching up with my girlies now that they aren't so busy with school, catching up on some tv shows we never watched (Angel was last week, this week is Lost), walk with my walking club, cook up a storm (I recently picked up a few cook books that I am dying to delve in to), growing herbs on my balcony, losing 10-15 more pounds (personal goal *fingers crossed*), reading a few good books (hopefully poolside), taking 1 or 2 day trips (New Orleans and the coast, hopefully), rereading The Tightwad Gazette for inspiration/a kick in the butt, blogging more...
Ok, so maybe I have a full summer ahead of me. Now I just have to figure out how to make all of this happen and still keep my sanity.
What are your plans for the summer?

sounds like a plan...I'll have to find out more about those skateboards that sounds really COOL! We're staying home this year too-hard to travel or plan anything with taking care of kelvin's dad (long story) and the critters....maybe one day...Starting to agree that there is NOTHING to do here.....
